Pauline Oversized Gingham Dress – Bright & Beautiful

If you didn’t already know, I am an absolute SUCKER for some gorgeous gingham. The beauty that is the Pauline Oversized Gingham Dress by Bright & Beautiful was the first addition of purple gingham to my wardrobe and I am very much a fan.

Bright & Beautiful by Collectif is influenced by the 60s and 70s, aiming to bring you all of the fun and colour but mixed with a modern twist. The Pauline dress is a 70s inspired swing dress that will have you swirling and twirling to show off her beauty.

A 50s gal at heart, I styled this with a 50s look in mind. It’s a gorgeous dress for spring and summer weather and a perfect partner for a picnic. The skirt was much fuller than I anticipated after viewing the product photos, but this was a welcomed discovery. I enjoyed the modest boat neckline and the somewhat cheeky scooping shape of the back. I also loved how much it tapered in at the waist.

This beauty is made from a textured linen blend (70% Cotton 30% Linen ) and only required a quick steam before she was ready for her first outing. The blend means this garment can be machine washed at 30 degrees which is handy too.

I’m wearing an XXS or a (UK 6) and it fit my measurements (32”-24”-32”) absolutely perfectly! Check out the Bright & Beautiful size chart to see what would best suit you. There isn’t any give/stretch in the fabric so do definitely use the chart as a guide when selecting your size The sizes range from UK 4 through to UK 18.

International shipping is available and you can make this gorgeous garment all yours right here.

Jane Plain Shorts – Bright & Beautiful

I’m not normally much of a shorts kinda gal, but the Jane Plain Shorts by Bright & Beautiful were game changers!

I think what sets these beauties apart is the girly flare and fit that made me question “Wait, am I wearing a skirt?” The best kind of question when it comes to shorts, as far as I’m concerned.

Bright & Beautiful by Collectif is very much influenced by the swinging 60s and 70s, aiming to bring you all of the fun and colour but mixed with a modern twist.

This particular style ticks all of those boxes. The shade of green is simply gorgeous and complimentary to the vast array of skin tones out there. On the topic of green, it’s really doing things for me this season and is a big leap away from the usual pinks that fill my wardrobe. Change is as good as a holiday right?

The Jane shorts are high waisted allowing you to showcase that nipped waist before they flow out in all the right places. I’m shot sporting these in the (albeit, mild) Brisbane winter and their floaty nature meant a nice little breeze: I can imagine this would be welcomed ventilation come summer!

L_LucyLuxe_ByDavidGatt (26)

The shorts do up at the front with both a button and zip and here comes the part you’ve all been waiting for….JANE. HAS. POCKETS! The fabric is 100% polyester and a quick steam was all that was needed to get this pair of pretties ready for an outing. I’m lazy and couldn’t tell you the last time I actually ironed so if it can be steamed, I’m on board.

Dress Jane casual with a plain tee or knit as I have here, or doll her right up with heels and a strapless top for a night out. The options are endless.

Bright & Beautiful sizing is the same as Collectif ranging from XXS through to 4XL. I’m wearing an XXS (UK 6) here and found the measurements to be bang on for my 24” waist. There’s no give in the fabric, so you want to use the size chart as a guide to ensure a good fit.

Bright & Beautiful offers International shipping so no matter where you are in the world, their beautiful threads can be yours.

Veronica Heels – Lulu Hun

I feel everyone needs a staple, sleek and shiny silver shoe (all of the alliteration) in their wardrobe and I think I’ve found her!

The Veronica by Lulu Hun by Collectif is a traditional t-bar style with a heel that’s cute but comfortable in terms of height!

Given I’m currently recovering from a broken sesamoid bone in my foot, I’m on the hunt for more foot friendly shoes with a reasonable incline and these are great in that regard. The heel is 8cm high, so much kinder to my feet than some of the shoes in my wardrobe. The Veronica fastens with a little gold buckle that has elastic for further comfort.

I love the unique triangular cut out detailing and the open toe design to show off my classic red pedicure. I also feel the shoe is very versatile and could be worn with a day wear style outfit but also out on the town during the evening.

The Veronica is available in a UK 3 to UK 8. I’m wearing a UK 6 and am normally a EU size 39 or an Australian ladies 8. Initially, I was concerned they were a touch big, but I think the size below may have been too snug for me. My feet are on the wider size of things so I’d advise checking the Lulu Hun size chart to ensure the best fit for you!

Lucy Luxe does Viva Las Vegas! Part 4: A Special Surprise Gift

There are now only SIX Mondays left until I’ll be boarding a big jet plane and crossing the seas to arrive on the shores of the United States ahead of Viva Las Vegas 20. I can’t believe it! If time could just slow town a tad, that would be great.

Although I’m feeling a wee bit nervous about it all, on Friday evening I was gifted something very special that I can bring along on my trip that I want to tell you about.

On Friday, the wonderful Bombshell Burlesque Academy I attend had its annual Bombshells Ball. This regular event showcases the routines each different group and individual soloists have been funneling their energies and efforts into throughout the six week term.

Funnily enough, it was actually pinup that brought burlesque into my life. After being lucky enough to take part in the Garterbelts and Gasoline Pinup Contest and then being even luckier to call myself Miss Garterbelts and Gasoline 2014, I received a term voucher to the Bombshell Burlesque Academy in my winning prize pack.

I headed along to my first ever burlesque class a few months later in late 2014. Despite being somewhat skeptical and scared at the realisation that burlesque would involve removing articles of clothing on a stage in front of a bunch of people I didn’t know, I came back for more. I finally took to the stage in early 2015 and now burlesque is very much a part of my life and one that I am proud of.

Burlesque has brought a whole lot of sparkle into my life. But rhinestones aside, the best part of burlesque has been the wonderful bunch of truly inspiring and encouraging women I have become surrounded by. It’s wonderful to be in the company of women who are creative, motivated and determined and I feel truly privileged to call these women my friends.

Recently, I had the pleasure of spending lots of time with a select group of these lovelies as we prepared the Premiere Season of our show A Brief History of Burlesque. Headed by our director Lila Luxx, it was something I felt very honoured to be a part of.

So on Friday as the show drew to a close, I was surprised to hear my name called and be beckoned to the front of the stage by our lovely MC CeCe Shabam. What followed was a complete surprise announcement about my upcoming trip to take part in the Viva Las Vegas 20 Pinup Contest and if that wasn’t enough, a surprise gift too! It completely caught me by surprise and I was very aware of how awkwardly I was standing there not knowing what to say as a result. As the show ended and everyone began filing back to the change rooms, Evelyn, Diamond and Kira all told me that I simply had to open this mystery gift there and then on the spot.

Opening the box led to me immediately losing it and bawling/babbling like a baby at the gorgeous and incredibly thoughtful contents inside. Lila had organised for the amazing Coppelia Jane to hand make me my very own personalised signature Glamour Gown to take to Viva to which all of these beautiful women (Lila, Ella, Evangelene, Jacqueline, Kira, Evelyn, Diamond Cello, and Evie) had contributed too. David had even been in on the action because Lila managed to get a copy of my logo so it could be embroidered on the gown. This is hands down, the most beautiful and thoughtful gesture that I have ever been on the receiving end of and still now, I cannot find words to adequately express how much this means to me.

Upon thanking Lila for initiating such a beautiful plan, she said it was “a little bit of us to take with you”. I feel so blessed to have such a supportive posse of women behind me and I’m so chuffed to have this beautiful gown to bring with me on my travels and remind me of you all! In all honesty, I owe the level of confidence I have today to doing classes with the Bombshells and being constantly supported and encouraged by these beauties. I can see the growth and changes in myself and to these women I say thank you. Thank you for constantly having faith in my abilities and assisting me to have faith in them too! Special mention to Lila Luxx who is my Beyonce: A fierce and intelligent woman who knows what she wants and just goes out and gets it.

Now I leave you with some shots of this beautiful gown I speak of. Also, 10 points to all of these people for managing to keep this a secret for several weeks! Yet another thing about you all that impresses me! ❤
